what to do next
Now that you’ve explored the basics of Portfolytics, you might be wondering what else you can do with it.
This guide gives you a few simple ideas to keep going and start making better product decisions.
Set up your product hierarchy
If you haven’t done it yet, try grouping your products into main and subcategories.
Start small:
- add tags that make sense such as
main_cat:trousers
to a few products - or pick a single product type and see how it performs
Then head to the Hierarchy view to see what insights show up. The more structured your catalog, the more you’ll uncover.

Spot winners and underperformers
Use the Collections or Tags views to:
- find collections that have no sales
- spot tags that the best selling products have
- identify products that show up everywhere but don’t convert
This is where you’ll usually find your first “ah-ha” moments.
Clean up your store navigation
If you notice collections that haven’t had any sales in the last 30 or 90 days, consider cleaning them up. Fewer, clearer collections can help your customers find what they want faster.
And your data becomes easier to read, too.
Review your product mix
Use the Sales vs Inventory report to check for:
- categories where you could add more variety
- bloated sections where nothing sells
- possible gaps in your assortment
It’s a quick way to align what you offer with what people actually buy.
Stay curious
You don’t need to analyze everything at once. Just check back regularly to:
- look at new product launches
- track seasonal changes
- clean up cluttered categories
The app’s meant to be used in small, regular check-ins – not just once a quarter.
